Cajun Rice with Beef

Cajun Rice with Beef Recipe

This vibrant and spicy dish includes the fiery kick of chilli combined with the fresh flavour of coriander seed and the woody and aromatic flavour of thyme.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 450g (1lb) minced beef
  • 1 red pepper, diced
  • 125g (5oz) celery, sliced
  • 3 tsp Schwartz Perfect Shake Cajun Herb & Spice Blend
  • 125g (5oz) long grain rice
  • 475ml (16fl oz) water
  • 1 bunch spring onions, sliced
  • Schwartz Sea Salt to season

Method

STEP 1Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan and fry the mince for 6-8 minutes until browned. Drain any excess liquid.

STEP 2Toss in the pepper and celery and cook over a medium heat for 2-3 minutes.

STEP 3Sprinkle in the Perfect Shake Cajun and add the rice, cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently.

STEP 4Stir in the water, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked. Stir in the spring onions and serve.
