Star Anise is the dried star-shaped fruit of a small Asian evergreen tree and is used as a base for the anti-flu drug Tamiflu! It was first brought to Europe in the 16th century where it was used to flavour syrups and preserves.

Star Anise is a brown dried fruit flower with an 8 pointed star shape. It has a warm, liquorice flavour and aroma with a sweet, mildly numbing effect on the tongue.
